The Beaumont School swim team had a great showing at Friday’s (Feb. 19) Division II District Meet at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva.
Coach Tania Younkin’s team scored 84.5 points which was good for ninth in a deep field.
The highlight of the day was the 200 free relay team of senior Ella Lisac and juniors Reese Brady, Camryn Koonce and Mateja Rudmann finishing third overall with a time of 1:40.68. That was a 3.23 second drop and shattered the school record of 1:43.23 that was set at last year’s District Meet.
That time will qualify the Blue Streaks for the Division II State Meet which will be held in Canton on Wednesday (Feb. 24).
Beaumont’s 200 medley relay team of Rudmann, senior Audrey Zorman, Koonce and Lisac dropped 3.15 seconds and finished in ninth with a time of 1:56.41.
The other Blue Streak relay to qualify was the 400 free quartet of freshman Cilka Rowane, junior Ellie Hanna, Brady and Rudmann and that group finished 11th with a time of 3:55.26.
Other highlights of the meet included Lisac taking seventh in the 50 free with a 0.17 time improvement of 24.85. She swam a 25.11 in her swim-off with Padua’s Charlotte Cohagan.
Lisac was also 13th in the 100 free (55.97).
Her classmate Zorman placed 15th in the 100 breast with a 1:13.13 which was a 0.66 drop.
