Girls Varsity Swimming · Blue Streaks Take Second at Beachwood Sprint Invitational


The Beaumont School swim team took second place at the four-team Beachwood Sprint Invitational held on Friday (Feb. 5) night.

Chagrin Falls won the meet with a score of 607.5 while Beaumont finished with a score of 426.5. The host Bison came in third (203) and Independence rounded out the field, coming in with 183 points.

  • The 200 yard medley relay team started the night with a second place finish. Seniors Maria Jones, Audrey Zorman, freshman Cilka Rowane and junior Mateja Rudmann finished in 2:03.31.
  • Rudmann then took second in the 100 free (1:00.85) and Rowane was two spots behind her (1:01.74) while junior Reese Brady came in sixth with a time of 1:02.75. Junior Lauren Harmat was eighth (1:04.22).
  • Zorman was Beaumont’s top finisher in the 100 IM. Her time of 1:12.13 was good for fifth.
  • Rudmann won the 50 free in 26.84 and Brady placed fourth (27.54).
  • Junior Camryn Koonce (30.44), Rowane (30.65) and Zorman (31.23) placed fifth, sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 50 fly.
  • The Blue Streaks had three of the top-six finishers in the 50 back. Rudmann was third (32.02), Brady was fourth (32.56) and Jones was sixth in 34.03.
  • Zorman (35.73) and Koonce (36.23) went three-four in the 50 breaststroke event.
  • The 200 free relay team of Harmat, Koonce, Brady and Rudmann came in second after touching in 1:51.25. Chagrin Falls won the race in 1:50.10.

Friday’s meet concluded the regular season for the Blue Streaks. Next up is the Division II Sectional Meet which will be held next Friday, Feb. 12 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva. Beaumont is in the evening session which starts at 5:00 p.m.
