The Beaumont School varsity basketball team defeated Villa Angela-St. Joseph 85-23 on Saturday (Jan. 23) afternoon to earn its third win of the week.
Beaumont is now 8-5 overall while the Vikings are still in search of their first victory.
Senior Lydia Gattozzi scored a game-high 20 points. Her classmates Elissa Letterio (four) and Shannon Blankenship (three) combined to drill seven three-pointers. The Blue Streaks hit 11 triples on the day as Gattozzi also hit a pair while junior Layne Steffen and freshman Avery Carr both connected from deep.
Freshman Mackenzie Callender got in the scorebook for the first time in her varsity debut. She hit a bucket and added a free throw for three points.
In total, 13 Blue Streaks scored.
Beaumont will return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 27) at Padua. The JV game is at 5:30 p.m. with varsity to follow at 7:00 p.m.
The Blue Streaks and Bruins met in Cleveland Heights in early December with the home team prevailing 71-54.
