Girls Varsity Basketball · Lydia Gattozzi Becomes Program’s All-Time Leading Scorer


Beaumont School senior Lydia Gattozzi passed Annie Bova ’12 as the basketball program’s all-time leading scorer on Saturday (Jan. 16).

Bova, who later played at Mount Union before coming back to coach and teach at her alma mater, scored 1,304 points in her decorated career.

After Saturday’s contest, Gattozzi sits at 1,305 career points.

She scored 27 points in her first high school game against Chagrin Falls on Nov. 29, 2017 and averaged 16.3 points as a rookie. The following year, Gattozzi scored 346 points (13.8 per game).

Last year, the Chardon native scored 392 points (15.7 per game) and so in 10 games this season, she has scored 192 points while reaching double-figures in every contest.

To date, Gattozzi’s career-high is a 31-point effort against Willoughby South at Laurel on Dec. 30, 2017.

She has scored 20+ points 26 times.
