The Beaumont School varsity soccer team was a 4-0 winner over Villa Angela-Saint Joseph on Wednesday (Oct. 7) night at Denison Park.
On a night when the Blue Streaks celebrated their three seniors, senior Ella Stover scored two goals.
Early in the first half, sophomore Ellie Olack took a corner and the ball caromed off the far post. Stover came out of a scrum in front of the net and tapped it in to stake Beaumont to a 1-0 lead.
With just 3:25 left in the opening half, Beaumont took a 2-0 lead when sophomore Ella Kijewski sent a shot toward the net and junior Mary McDonald deflected it in to close the first half scoring.
Beaumont opened the second half scoring when sophomore Sophia Boes crossed a ball that was deflected by VASJ’s standout senior goalie Jasmine Riddle. A sprinting Stover knocked it in to provide the Blue Streaks some breathing room with 29 minutes left to play.
Sophomore Makende Stewart closed the scoring after receiving the ball off a touch from classmate Madison Heathcote. Riddle sprinted at Stewart who was able to slide it over top and decide the final margin at 4-0.
Sophomore Maeve Sommerfeld and freshman Nicolette Rand split duty in goal and helped the Blue Streaks pitch their third shutout of the season.
Seniors Caroline Pick and Christina Parker both played up top and were active all match long in what was their final appearance at Denison Park.
