For the first time since 2016, Beaumont School will be represented at the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Division II girls golf tournament.
Junior Lauren Bangasser shot an 81 at the Division II district tournament, held Tuesday (Oct. 6) at Sable Creek Golf Course in Hartville, Ohio. That score advanced her to the Division II state tournament which will be held October 16-17 in Columbus, Ohio.
The top three teams and the top three individual low scores not on a qualifying team moved on. Bangasser’s 81 was the second best score on a non-qualifying team and third best overall.

Bangasser, the 2018 North Coast League Golfer of the Year as a freshman, helped the 2018 team qualify for the district tournament where they took sixth.
Last year, she reached the district tournament as an individual and shot an 85 on the same course, finishing tied for eighth and missing out on a playoff tiebreaker by one shot. She won last week’s Division II sectional tournament to come to Sable Creek with some positive momentum.
The last time Beaumont had an individual reach the state tournament was in the fall of 2016 when Erin Adams ’17 went to Columbus and placed 11th.
The only time a Beaumont team has advanced to the state’s biggest event was in 2013 when the squad made up of Jennifer, Katherine and Elizabeth Corrado, Cassandra Heathcote and Elizabeth Moiser placed eighth as a team.
