Multiple Teams · Beaumont Announces Plan to Begin Athletic Workouts


The Beaumont School athletic department is announcing its plan to permit athletic workouts to begin on Wednesday, June 3. It is our belief that it is important for the physical and mental well-being of our student-athletes to return to physical activity and to build relationships with their peers and coaches.

Until there is a cure, vaccine, or effective treatment for COVID-19 readily available, social distancing and other preventive measures will be the ‘new normal’ during any aspect of sport at Beaumont School and it is our goal to foster an environment where athletic activities can be performed safely.

Our policies for summer participation can be found HERE. These policies will be implemented and in effect at Beaumont School from June 3, 2020 – July 31, 2020, as it relates to upcoming fall sports options (i.e. cross country, golf, soccer, tennis and volleyball) and through August, 31, 2020 for Beaumont’s other varsity sports: basketball, lacrosse, softball, swimming and diving and track and field.

Sport specific information and offseason schedules will come from the Beaumont School coaching staff. Coaches will be dividing students into small groups that will work out at staggered times in an effort to minimize contact and allow time for disinfection.

Student-athletes will need to bring their own water bottle(s) and come dressed ready to participate. Coaches will provide more details regarding entrances/exits and equipment.

Summer participation in workouts/training sessions is voluntary and may not be used toward team or program selection. Fall sports are still scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 1 at which time attendance is required.

Prior to the start of the season, in accordance with the Ohio High School Athletic Association bylaws, a pre-participation evaluation is required to be on file in the athletic department. These evaluations are required to be completed once every 13 months. The 2020-21 OHSAA Physical Exam Form is HERE.

Incoming freshmen are required to fill out an Emergency Medical Form which can be found HERE.

All student-athletes are invited to participate in virtual training sessions that will be conducted via Zoom and led by our performance coach Carol Mack. The sessions will begin next Tuesday, June 9 and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-4:00 p.m. The plan is to record and post these sessions so that they can be done at a later time, too.

Finally, please review the COVID-19 Coach/Student-Athlete Monitoring Form which can be found HERE. Each time coaches and student-athletes report to the Beaumont School campus, they will be required to fill out the ‘COVID-19 Coach/Student-Athlete Monitoring Form’ prior to the start of any activity.

Coaches and student-athletes must take their temperature within one hour of arriving to campus.

People who feel sick should stay home and then contact and follow the advice of your medical provider.

We realize that our ability to safely return to activities this summer will have a huge impact on our ability to have sports during the 2020-21 school year and believe that we have the proper protocols in place to keep our coaches and student-athletes safe.
