Girls Varsity Basketball · @BeaumontHoops Announces North Coast League Awards

The Beaumont School basketball program announced its North Coast League award winners at the school’s Winter Sports Banquet, held Tuesday (March 3) at Dino’s Catering at Acacia.

Eight members of the 2019-20 Blue Streak squad that went 5-1 and captured the White Division title were honored.

Senior guard Carly Perusek, last year’s NCL Gray Division Defensive Player of the Year, was selected as this year’s White Division Defensive Player of the Year.

Junior wing Lydia Gattozzi, now a three-time first team all-NCL performer, split the division’s Offensive Player of the Year award with Cleveland Central Catholic’s Chantel Barnett.

Coach Derrick Russell, the 2018-19 NCL Gray Division Coach of the Year, shared this year’s honor with CCC’s Dave Murphy.

Joining Perusek and Gattozzi on the first team were three juniors: Tamya Edwards, Elissa Letterio and Ally Ziegler.

Seniors Mia Mlynek and Kendall Toppin earned second team honors and freshman Sophia Boes earned honorable mention status.

The Blue Streaks finished the year at 15-10 and advanced to the district semifinals for the second straight year.
