Girls Varsity Basketball · Blue Streaks Knock Off VASJ 80-29 to Win Third Straight

The Beaumont School basketball team defeated Villa Angela-St. Joseph by a score of 80-29 on Saturday (Dec. 14) afternoon.

It was the third straight win for the Blue Streaks who are now 3-2 overall and 2-0 in North Coast League play. The Vikings dipped to 0-6.

Junior Elissa Letterio hit six three-pointers on her way to a game-high 20 points. She tripled twice in the first quarter to help stake Beaumont to a 30-12 lead after eight minutes and added two more threes in the second quarter, after which Beaumont led 52-16.

Juniors Lydia Gattozzi (14) and Ally Ziegler (12) were the other Blue Streaks who scored in double figures.

Willo Singleton led the Vikings with nine points.

Beaumont is idle this week for final exams but will return to action next Saturday (Dec. 21) at Chippewa High School. That’s a traditional JV/varsity doubleheader with games starting at 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The following day, Coach Russell’s team will play Eastlake North at the NEO Christmas Classic hosted at Garfield Heights High School. Beaumont will battle the Rangers at 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 22.
