Girls Varsity Basketball · Blue Streaks Win NCL Opener at Lake Catholic, 52-25

The Beaumont School basketball team won its North Coast League opener by a score of 52-25 at Lake Catholic on Saturday (Dec. 7) afternoon.

With the win, the Blue Streaks evened their record at 2-2 while Lake Catholic fell to 0-5.

Beaumont held the Cougars scoreless in the first period and led 13-0 after a quarter and 29-7 at the half in a game that was never really in doubt.

The Blue Streaks hit nine triples on the day, three each by senior Mia Mlynek and junior Elissa Letterio.

Senior point guard Carly Perusek led all scorers with 14 points.

Beaumont is back in action next Saturday (Dec. 14) at home against Villa Angela-St. Joseph. The hope is to play a JV game against a to-be-determined team at 11:30 a.m. with the varsity game slated for a 1:00 p.m. start. VASJ does not have a junior varsity squad.
