Girls Varsity Cross Country · Beaumont Finishes Seventh at State Meet


The Beaumont School cross country team finished in seventh place at the Division II State Cross Country Championships, held Saturday (Nov. 2) at the National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.

Last year, Beaumont tied Tuscarawas Valley High School for seventh and the Blue Streaks finished eighth after a tiebreaker.

This year, the Blue Streaks score of 228 edged Ontario by three points for seventh.

 

Senior Mia Mlynek capped her career with a 17th place showing as she finished in 18:50.2. After taking 73rd as a freshman at the 2016 State Meet, Mlynek finished 17th as a sophomore and ninth last year so Saturday was her third trip to the podium.

Classmate Addy Ciecierski ran a 19:25.2 which was good for 36th. Like Mlynek, Ciecierski finished her career as a three-time podium placer.

Fellow senior Carly Perusek ran a 20:10.6 which was 83rd overall and 54th among team placers.

Beaumont’s fourth and fifth place finishers both PR’d. Junior Claire Wolf was 99th with a time of 20:26.9 after taking 124th last year a sophomore. Freshman Sophia Pomnean came in 109th with a time of 20:39.6.

Freshman Mya Salerno ran a 21:10.7 in her first trip to the State Meet and junior Katherine Pomnean recorded a 21:37.7.
