The Beaumont School varsity soccer team extended its winning streak to three matches on Thursday (Aug. 29), the latest a 4-0 victory over Chardon.
With the win, the Blue Streaks improved to 3-1 on the young year. After opening the year with a loss at Beachwood, Beaumont has responded with wins against Parma, Cuyahoga Heights and the Hilltoppers.
Coach Birdie Wargo’s club jumped in front in the 10th minute on Thursday evening when junior Christina Parker scored off a ball from freshman Ellie Olack.
Ninth grader Lexi Patton converted a PK in the 27th minute after the Hilltoppers were whistled for a handball in the box. Beaumont took that 2-0 lead into the intermission.
With a hair more than 16 minutes remaining in the contest, freshman Sophia Boes took a corner and the goalie bobbled the rock and it bounced around and in, extending Boes’ goal streak to four matches.
Senior Colleen Martin added a goal herself to decide the final margin.
The Blue Streaks defense, anchored by senior goalkeeper Katie Bagley, senior Hannah Heathcote and junior Caroline Pick helped the team pitch its first shutout of the season.
Beaumont is idle until Tuesday’s (Sep. 3) match against Warren John F. Kennedy. That get-together will be varsity only and kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Denison Park.
