The Beaumont School track and field team finished in fifth place at the Division II Perry District Meet, held Thursday (May 16) and Saturday (May 18) at Perry High School.

The meet started with a bang on Thursday as the Blue Streaks won the only running final of Day One. Sophomore Lizzie Rubadue, junior Addison Ciecierski, senior Ashley Rulison and junior Mia Mlynek led Beaumont to repeat as district champions in the 800 with a time of 9:50.63, more than 22 seconds ahead of the second place team from West Geauga.
Ciecierski would later win the 1600 in 11:53.30 which was a full 52 seconds faster than anyone else in the field.
Mlynek (5:13.33) and Rulison (5:19.82) went two-three in the 1600 and Rubadue ran a 2:22.93 in the 800 to finish fourth and move on to next week’s regional meet.
Junior Kendall Toppin finished fourth in the long jump to advance to the regional meet. Her 16’ 8.25” jump came on her final attempt.
Toppin’s classmate Hannah Heathcote finished sixth in both the 100 hurdles (18.08) and 300 hurdles (51.67) to add six points to the team score.
Freshmen Patricia O’Neill and Audra Hartman both turned in sixth place finishes in individual events to add three points each to the team score. O’Neill ran a 26.65 in the 200 and Hartman finished the 3200 race Ciecierski won in 13:18.78.
Fellow freshman Reese Brady scored in the high jump, taking eighth after clearing 4’6” on Thursday.
On the relay front, the 4×400 team of Rubadue, Toppin, Mlynek and Rulison finished third in 4:07.87 to advance.
The 4×200 team of Patricia O’Neill, her sophomore sister JoJo, Brady and Toppin came in fourth (1:47.84) and qualified for regionals.
Beaumont’s 4×100 relay team of the O’Neill sisters, freshman Mateja Rudmann and Toppin placed fifth, one spot out of qualifying for for the next round.
