There was only one running final on Day One of the North Coast League Track and Field Championships, held Tuesday (April 30) at Padua Franciscan High School, and it went to the Beaumont Blue Streaks.
Sophomore Lizzie Rubadue, junior Addison Ciecierski, senior Ashley Rulison and junior Mia Mlynek won the 4×800 relay in 9:33.87, just off of last year’s meet record time of 9:33.34 which was set by St. Joseph Academy.
The next closest group came from SJA and that quartet clocked in at 9:43.12.

Other highlights included junior Hannah Heathcote winning her heat in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18.11, just a tenth of a second behind the overall first place finisher. Heathcote was among seven student-athletes to qualify for the finals.
Heathcote also advanced to the finals in the 300 hurdles as her time of 50.14 slots her fourth after the prelims.
Freshman Patricia O’Neill had the sixth best qualifying time in the 200 (27.55) and she too advances to Thursday. Her classmate Reese Brady turned in a time of 28.24 to just narrowly miss moving on.
Rubadue claimed the last qualifying spot in the 400 as she crossed the finish line in 1:02.99, making the mark by 11 hundredths of a second.
Day Two of the North Coast League Track and Field Championships will be held at Padua Franciscan on Thursday (May 2) with field events starting at 4:00 p.m. and races at 5:00 p.m.
