Girls Varsity Basketball · Blue Streaks Zip Past Western Reserve, 81-39


The Beaumont School basketball team picked up its ninth win of the season with an 81-39 victory over Western Reserve Academy on Tuesday (Jan. 8) night.

Coach Derrick Russell’s team now sits at 9-5 overall.

Sophomore Lydia Gattozzi scored a game-high 18 points in the win. Junior guard Elizabeth Carvajal went for 17 and her classmate Carly Perusek finished with 15.

Sophomore Tamya Edwards was the other Blue Streak in double figures as she scored 10. Her classmate Elissa Letterio hit two triples and junior Tamia Ford hit a three and another field goal to finish with five points.

Five other Blue Streaks got in the scorebook with a bucket, including freshman Reese Brady in her varsity debut.

Beaumont will re-enter North Coast League play on Saturday (Jan. 12) with a 4:30 p.m. game against Saint Thomas Aquinas. That is varsity only and the contest will be played at Ursuline College following the 2:00 p.m. game between Cedarville and the Arrows.
