Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball, Girls Varsity Volleyball · Blue Streaks Sweep Knights on Saturday Afternoon

The Beaumont School volleyball team defeated Division IV state runner-up St. Thomas Aquinas in three sets on Saturday (Oct. 6) afternoon.

After the Blue Streaks won the first set 25-19, they took care of the Knights 25-14 in the second frame and 25-19 in the clincher.

It was Beaumont’s fourth North Coast League victory of the season.

Sophomore Darby Leininger had a team-high 13 kills and senior Lily Poland chipped in nine. Poland’s classmates Jackie Gambrell and Rachel Holland were each credited with five kills.

Beaumont’s offense was ran through senior setter Isabella Letterio who ended the day with 36 assists.

Senior Grace Leinweber finished with a team-best 14 kills while senior Sydney Fitzcharles and sophomore Bella Peroni each had 10.

The Blue Streaks will play again on Tuesday (Oct. 9) at Cleveland Central Catholic. Because CCC does not have a freshmen team, the JV match will start at 5:00 p.m. with varsity to follow.

Note: Prior to the varsity match, the JV team took care of St. Thomas Aquinas in two sets: 25-2 and 25-9. Beaumont’s junior varsity squad is now 15-4 entering the final week of the season.
