The Beaumont School varsity lacrosse team won its third straight game with a 9-8 road win over Archbishop Hoban on Thursday (April 12) night.
Coach Brien Shanahan’s team fell behind 2-0 in the first 1:39 before going on a 5-2 run to jump in front.
Junior Grace Stover scored before her classmate Maddie Hansen knotted the game at two. Stover’s second goal pushed Beaumont ahead 3-2 and then seniors Mary Bova and Jewell Johnson scored to keep the momentum moving in the direction of the Blue Streaks.
Hoban responded with a 4-0 run of its own to move in front 6-5 with 17:53 to play.
Bova tied the game at six and then sophomore Katie Bagley’s goal gave Beaumont a 7-6 lead. After that, Hansen and Bova tallies gave the Blue Streaks a three-goal lead at 9-6.
Hoban scored twice in the final 8:14 but senior goalie Liz Jerse and her defense were able to hold off the Knights down the stretch to preserve the victory.
With the win, Beaumont improved its record to 3-3. The Blue Streaks will be in action again on Saturday (April 14) as they travel to Lake Catholic to battle the Cougars. JV starts at 11:00 a.m. with varsity to follow.
JV: The junior varsity team tied Hoban 4-4 on Thursday. Freshman Jackie Patton scored twice and the other Blue Streak scores came from freshmen Maggie Milam and Christiane Nowak.
