The Beaumont School varsity lacrosse team defeated Charon 20-4 on Wednesday (April 11) evening.
Senior Jewell Johnson scored 11 seconds into the game and sophomore Katie Bagley followed 46 seconds after that to push the Blue Streaks ahead 2-0.
Goals from junior Parker Haynes, Johnson and junior Grace Stover propelled the Blue Streaks in front 5-0 just 4:37 in.
Charon got on the scoreboard with 19:37 to go in the half but Beaumont went on a 3-0 run with back-to-back goals from junior Maddie Hansen and another from senior Mary Bova.
The Hilltoppers cut into the deficit and made it an 8-2 game before the Blue Streaks closed the half with an 8-0 run. Goals came from Stover, Haynes, Hansen, two from Bova, Haynes again, Hansen and then Stover closed the run with 42 seconds showing on the first half clock.
Chardon scored two unanswered goals to start the second period but Bova, Johnson, freshman Maggie Milam and Haynes answered to decide the final score.
Senior Liz Jerse was once again stellar in goal and halted many Hilltopper scoring opportunities.
JV: The JV team beat Painesville Riverside by a score of 13-1. Freshman Molly Passow scored six goals while Milam and her classmate Lilly Kijewski both scored three goals. The other Blue Streak score came from sophomore Maddie Sanders. Freshman goalie Jackie Patton and her back line did a tremendous job of shutting down the Beaver attack.
The Blue Streaks will play for the third straight day on Thursday (April 12) as they will travel to Akron to battle Archbishop Hoban. JV plays first at 5:30 p.m. and varsity will follow at 7:00 p.m.
