The Beaumont varsity lacrosse team picked up its first win of the year by knocking off Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 13-9 on Tuesday (April 9) evening.
Beaumont took an early lead when junior Parker Haynes scored 3:12 into the contest off an assist from senior Mary Bova.
Senior Jewell Johnson scored off a pass from junior Grace Stover to make it a 2-0 game and then Stover’s classmate Maddie Hansen and Bova scored to grow the Blue Streak lead to four.
After CVCA got on the board, Johnson scored back-to-back goals to extend the Beaumont lead to five at 6-1. Hansen netted another tally before the Royals cut into the deficit at 7-2 but Beaumont got two more goals from Bova, one from Stover and another from Johnson to take an 11-2 lead into the break.
After some back-and-forth, Beaumont goals from Haynes and Hansen made it a 13-4 game and the Royals tacked on five late scores to decide the final margin.
The 13 goals provided more than enough support for senior goalie Liz Jerse who was spectacular in net.
Beaumont is back in action on Wednesday (April 11) as Chardon comes to campus for a 5:00 p.m. game.
The JV team tied CVCA 4-4 on Tuesday and the Blue Streaks will host Painesville Riverside at the JV level Wednesday. That contest should start at about 6:30 p.m.
