Girls Varsity Swimming · Blue Streaks Take Ninth at D-II Sectional Meet

The Beaumont School swimming team took ninth place at the Division II Sectional Meet held at the SPIRE Institute on Friday (Feb. 9). Head coach Tania Younkin was quick to point out that Friday’s qualifying times were the fastest the program has had since she took over as head coach and called it a great meet overall.

Maria Jones moved on in the 100 fly (16th – 1:06.66) and True Robinson qualified in the 200 IM (16th – 2:32.70) and 100 Breast (12th – 1:13.32).

Danielle Christian scored and advanced in both the 100 Free (14th – 58.04) and 100 Back (16th – 1:06.44).

Audrey Zorman placed 18th in the 500 Free with a time of 6:15.82 and she too qualified for the District Meet.

Meghan Kessinger (20th in 100 Back – 1:09.43) and Zoe Larive (23rd in 100 Fly – 1:09.98) both had fantastic swims but just missed qualifying for districts.

All three relay teams qualified for the district meet.

200 Medley (Ninth – 2:00.90): Christian, Robinson, Jones and Audrey Zorman

200 Free (Seventh – 1:50.10): Jones, Katie McGreal, Kessinger and Sophie Eyerman

400 Free (Ninth – 4:05.77): Christian, McGreal, Kessinger and Eyerman

The Division II District Meet will be held next Friday (Feb. 16) at Cleveland State University’s Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.
