Colleen Spolar (‘17) is a senior at Beaumont this year. At Beaumont, she plays basketball, soccer, and track. She has been playing soccer and basketball at Beaumont since her freshman year. She started running track in her sophomore year. In soccer, Colleen is a sweeper. Colleen is a point guard and shooting guard in basketball. She is a sprinter for the track team. Her favorite quote is, “The game of basketball has been everything to me. My place of refuge, place I’ve always gone where I needed comfort and peace. It’s been the site of intense pain and the most intense feelings of joy and satisfaction. It’s a relationship that has evolved over time, given me the greatest respect and love for the game,” (Michael Jordan). When asked what her favorite sports memory at Beaumont was Colleen said, “There are really too many amazing memories to pick just one. I’ll always cherish the friendships I’ve made through sports and all the endless laughs with my teammates. I’m so thankful to have been given such wonderful teammates that have deepened my love for sports.” Colleen is an active member of many clubs at Beaumont, which shows her great leadership and diverse interests. These clubs include: National Honors Society, Academic Scholars, French Club, Executive Student Council, Peer ministry, Eucharistic Minister, Ambassadors Club, Spirit Club, Pre-Med Club, Girls Go Red Team. One fun fact about Colleen is that she is gluten-free. Her favorite professional sports team is the Cleveland Cavaliers and her favorite athlete is Kyrie Irving. Colleen will be attending Xavier University in the fall, where she will be majoring in Natural Sciences and Pre-Med. Her many gifts and talents will be missed at Beaumont as she continues living out her journey of life, leadership, and service in the world.
