The Blue Streaks defeated West Geauga in girls’ basketball action on Wednesday night. The contest was back and forth all night. Beaumont held a 3 point lead at half time, but fell behind by 12 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The coaching staff has preached perseverance all season, and that message paid off. The Blue Streaks fought to the end, and sent the game to overtime. Beaumont carried their momentum from the 4th quarter into overtime, and outscored West Geauga by 4 to take the victory 61-57.
Leading Beaumont in scoring was senior Colleen Spolar. She was red hot and totaled 28 points, including 6 3 point buckets. Also chipping in for Beaumont was senior Cayla Mercurio. Cayla had 11 points including 3 3 point buckets. Also getting into the scoring column was freshman Mia Mlynek who had 9 big points. Rounding out the scoring was Sophomore Hanna Pappas who had 7 points, and Senior Claire Cary who chipped in 6.
The Blue Streaks head to Akron on Saturday to take on Archbishop Hoban at 2:30.
