The Beaumont varsity volleyball team knocked off Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin in a five-set thriller on Tuesday (Sep. 26) night in Cleveland Heights.

After the Blue Streaks won the first set 25-11, the Lions won the next two (25-21, 25-19). Beaumont won the fourth set 25-20 before taking the clincher, 15-13.

Senior Madison Kasper led Beaumont with 26 kills and freshman Darby Leininger added 11. Kasper, Leininger and senior Trinity Mixon’s blocking efforts helped neutralize NDCL’s offense all night.

The victory was Beaumont’s second of the year in the always-tough North Coast League.

NDCL, ranked fifth in the latest Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Poll, dropped to 12-5 overall and 3-3 in the league.

The Lions, state champions in both 2014 and 2015, defeated the Blue Streaks in three sets when the two teams met in Chardon back on September 7th.
