The Beaumont soccer team beat Garfield Heights by a score of 2-1 on Friday (Oct. 6) night to pick up its first win under first-year head coach Joe Jovanovski.

Neither team scored in the first half and it remained a 0-0 game until senior Hannah Wells broke the scoreless tie with a goal minutes into the second period.

The senior then provided the Blue Streaks with some more breathing room with another tally to give Beaumont a 2-0 advantage.

Garfield Heights cut the deficit in half with a score that came on a penalty kick but the Blue Streaks hung on after that to preserve the victory.

Senior Mary Bova was solid in goal to earn the victory.

The program honored its seven seniors – Mary Bova, Christine DeSantis, Gabby Favazzo, Bri Paulett, Aleyah Turner, Hannah Wells and Sarah Wells – prior to the match.

Beaumont will conclude the regular season next Saturday (Oct. 14) with a 1:00 p.m. match against Keystone. Its varsity only and the match will be played at Conway Field on the school’s campus.
